The common side effects of valproic acid include: nausea headache sleepiness vomiting weakness tremor dizziness stomach pain blurry vision double vision diarrhea increased appetite weight gain hair loss loss of appetite problems with walking or coordination These are not all of the possible side effects of valproic acid
As noted above, 5-cholesten-3-one is not showing any activity with the mammalian enzymes, presumably due to steric hindrance by the bulky sidechain (Figure 8)
Its primary mechanism runs through AMPK activation
However, when resistance does occur, such as in Candida albicans or Aspergillus , it is typically associated with mutations in the ergosterol biosynthesis pathway, particularly in genes such as ERG2 , ERG3 , ERG5 and ERG11 ( Jensen et al., 2015)
